Our History

Incorporated in 1997, Specialist Engineering Services Ltd (SES) is a Doncaster-based SME. Originally established as a coal mining contractor, SES became the last remaining contractor as the UK’s domestic coal mining industry came to an end.

During the closure of the coal mining industry, SES was asked to retrain redundant coal miners for work on the railway. This marked our entry into the rail sector, initially as a contingent labour supplier. Over time, we have evolved into a specialist contractor, now predominantly providing services including labour, plant, and materials.
